Last-place Pinewood gave first-place Sacred Heart Prep all it could handle before the host Gators tallied a second-half goal and settled for a 1-0 victory in a West Bay Athletic League boys' soccer match on Wednesday. Junior Brendan Spillane tallied the winner off an assist from Will Mishra in the second half as the Gators improved to 10-0-2 (32 points) in league and 13-0-4 overall. Pinewood fell to 0-10-2 (0-13-3).
"I'm happy with our team possession, movement of the ball and the plentiful opportunities we created," said SHP Armando del Rio. "I'm also happy with our goalkeeping and strong defending in not allowing any chances on our goal . . . we did everything well, just missed a ton of goals/shots."
