The Menlo School boys' soccer team won its fourth straight, a 3-2 decision over visiting Eastside Prep in West Bay Athletic League action on Wednesday. The second-place Knights improved to 8-1-3 in league for 27 points with only two matches remaining in the regular season. Junior Max Parker struck twice and senior Lyall Cooper added another goal -– all unassisted. Menlo extended its streak of 11 straight matches without a loss.
Once again, junior Tim Costa was strong in goal, winning several cross balls, “and more importantly coming off his line to deny any breakaway goals,” Menlo coach Mark Arya said. “His leadership and command of the box today was impressive.”
Menlo also got key contributions from junior Nick Batchelder in a playmaking midfield role and junior Beau Baldwin as an outside back. The Knights (11-1-5 overall) will host third-place King’s Academy on Friday at 2:45 p.m.
