The Priory girls' soccer team took over second place in the West Bay Athletic League (Foothill Division) with a 1-0 victory over visiting Sacred Heart Prep on Saturday morning. Eugenia Jernick scored in the 44th minute off an assist from Sarah Zuckerman as the Panthers improved to 7-2 in league (10-4-2 overall) for 21 points. The three-time defending champion Gators (6-2-1, 8-4-5) fell to third with 19 points. Menlo continues to lead with 24 points. All three teams, however, already have clinched Central Coast Section berths as the WBAL was given an additional playoff spot this season. The Foothill Division's fourth-place team will meet the Skyline Division champ in a playoff for the WBAL's final CCS berth.
