Stanford senior Chad La Tourette, the three-time defending Pac-10 champion in the mile and the 2010 NCAA champion in the race, controlled the 1,000 free from start to finish and won in 9:10.19 in an exhibition swim.
USC sophomore Vladimir Morozov lowered his pool record in the 50 free and also won the 100 free to pace the No. 5 USC men's swimming and diving team in a loss to No. 3 Cal, 165-125, Friday at the USC McDonald's Swim Stadium.
No. 6 Stanford also participated in the competition, though in exhibition races only. USC will score against the Cardinal on Saturday at noon while the Bears compete in exhibition.
After the diving break, Morozov came back to win the 100 free in 43.21 while Stanford's David Nolan was third (44.77).
Cal's Adam Hinshaw, a PASA swimmer, won the 500 free in 4:27.79.
