Missy Penna pitched her fourth consecutive shutout, a five-inning two-hitter, on Friday as the Stanford softball team defeated visiting Wichita State, 11-0, as part of the Stanford Invitational. Penna struck out 12 and allowed her first walk of the season. She went 29 2-3 innings to open the season without a walk. She still hasn't allowed a run in 30 innings and has 42 strikeouts, not a bad strikeout-to-walk ratio. Stanford (7-0) hosts Pacific at noon on Saturday. Melisa Koutz drove in four runs for the Cardinal, while Shannon Koplitz added a pair of RBI.
