Varsity Girls Soccer
Saratoga 1, Menlo School 1
Date of competition: Friday, December 2, 2011
The Menlo School girls' soccer team rallied from a 1-0 deficit and pulled into a 1-1 tie with Saratoga in the second round of the Palo Alto Winter Classic on Friday at Palo Alto High. The Falcons took a 1-0 lead just 10 minutes into the match on a shot off a corner kick. The Knights (1-1-1) finally got the equalizer with only five minutes left in the game on a free kick 24 yards away by sophomore Jaye Boissiere -- thus keeping Menlo's quarterfinal dreams alive.
Menlo's defense was led by senior Shannon Lacy while other notable Menlo players were freshmen Alexandra Walker and Amber Mallett. Junior goalie Julia Dressel had five saves while Menlo outshot Saratoga 15-7.
