Missy Penna threw a two-hitter as the Stanford softball team downed Long Beach State, 1-0, as part of the San Diego Invitational on Saturday. Penna, who threw a no-hitter on Friday night, struck out six and did not walk a batter. She has 20 strikeouts in 14 innings, with no walks in her first two appearances. Melisa Koutz had two of Stanford's six hits. Rosey Neill scored the game's only run on an error in the second inning. The Cardinal (3-0) play the 49ers again on Sunday at noon.
