The U.S. Men’s Junior National Team defeated Japan 25-20, 21-25, 25-18, 25-19 and concluded first round pool play on Wednesday at the FIVB Volleyball Men’s Junior World Championship in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Team USA advances into the second round, which begins Friday.
Taylor Sander led the U.S. with 23 points on 19 kills, three blocks and an ace.
Stanford sophomore Eric Mochalski added 10 points on seven kills, two blocks and an ace.
