Stanford's Chad La Tourette finished fifth in the men's 1500-meter freestyle, clocking 14:52.36, on the final day of the FINA World Championships in Shanghai, China. Sun Yang of China won the race with a world record of 14:34.14. He beat the rest of the field by more than 10 seconds. American Peter Vanderkaay was sixth in 15:00.47.
