Varsity Girls Soccer
Sacred Heart Prep 1, Gunn 1
Date of competition: Saturday, January 22, 2011
After taking nearly 20 shots on goal, the Gunn girls’ soccer team finally got one in and that earned the Titans a 1-1 deadlock with host Sacred Heart Prep in a nonleague match on Saturday morning in Atherton. The Gators (7-4-2) broke the scoring drought in the second half when Abby Dahlkemper scored her seventh goal of the week off an assist from Leda Espinoza. Although Gunn controlled much of the match, the Titans (6-4-3) didn’t get on the board until Alyssa Perreault played a ball to freshman Sarah Robinson, whose chip shot found the net in the final five minutes. Sacred Heart’s defense saved three potential Gunn goals by clearing balls off the goal line.
Gunn 0 1 -- 1
