With the return this fall of full seasons of high school athletics, veteran sports journalists Rick Eymer and Glenn Reeves launched Peninsula Preps Playbook, a twice-a-week digital newsletter that will cover prep sports in the region, on Aug. 26.

Every Monday and Thursday afternoon, they plan to deliver exclusive, in-depth information about the local high school sports scene, from Mountain View to Redwood City. The Playbook will include season and game previews that tell readers what to look for and what’s at stake; profiles of interesting coaches and athletes; postgame analysis; entertaining features; and articles on local sports trends.

Eymer has covered local prep, college and professional sports for more than 40 years, the past 21 with the Palo Alto Weekly. His connections with some league commissioners, athletic directors and coaches date back to his own high school days in San Mateo.

Eymer is joined by Assistant Sports Editor Glenn Reeves, another longtime journalist who has reported for decades for The Mercury News and other publications.

“We’re looking forward to bringing you inside the world that we live and breathe: from the excitement of preps competition to the drama off the field,” Eymer said. “There’s so much to talk about when it comes to high school athletics, and we want to give everyone a front-row seat.”

    So I guess for a couple emails you deem “offensive” I guess I’m banned for life. The restrictions on free speech by social media sites are the most important issue facing this country. And you guys are part of it.

  3. The average apartment size in Manhattan is 701 sq ft, and the average rent is $3872/mo ( https://www.rentcafe.com/average-rent-market-trends/us/ny/manhattan/ ). The average apartment size in Palo Alto is 822 sq ft, and the average rent is $3003/mo ( https://www.rentcafe.com/average-rent-market-trends/us/ca/santa-clara-county/palo-alto/ ). Building taller and more densely doesn’t make housing more affordable because it drives up the price of land as well as the construction cost per square foot. As long as there are people with enough dollars to create demand, you can build tall/dense housing and make it profitable, but you can’t make it cheap. When there aren’t enough dollars around to create demand, you can’t make it profitable, so it doesn’t get built. By the way, anyone else notice that SB9 concentrates its new development in areas that are neither mixed-use nor well-served by mass transit? So much for all those claims about promoting walkability and cutting carbon dioxide emissions.
