Trent Amoroso's bases-loaded triple in the top of the seventh inning capped an unlikely 12-run rally that gave Alhouse a 16-6 victory over Old Pro in the Palo Alto Babe Ruth tournament at Baylands Athletic Center on Thursday.
Amoroso also delivered the go-ahead RBI in the inning, helping Alhouse advance to Saturday's championship game against Dutch Goose. Alhouse needs to win twice to claim the tournament title. The first game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m., with a second game if necessary.
Old Pro scored twice in the bottom of the fifth inning and took a 6-4 advantage into the seventh. Jonathan Xu and Min Jae Kim drove in the runs for Old Pro.
Mitchell Kiya pitched 3 2/3 innings in relief of starter Ryan Dodge to earn the victory.
Amoroso collected three hits and drove in four for Alhouse. Dodge added two hits and drove in three runs and Kiya drove in a pair of runs. Cameron Abrams, Ryan Kim and Jeffrey Kraskouskas also drove in runs. Jayce Enochs had two hits.
Kim had two hits and two RBIs for Old Pro. Xu and Jake Liu each had two hits and drove in a run, Burton Liu added two hits and Joe Kessler and Jorge Lopez drove in runs.
Patrick Boyd was hit by a pitch to open the seventh. Ryan Kim followed with a single. After an out, Boyd scored on a wild pitch and the winning rally was on. Kiya added a two-run single in the inning.
