Thank you for covering the High School Speech and Debate Team. Our son is a Junior at Paly and got involved in Debate beginning in 8th grade at Jordan. The debate community is rich beyond words - providing a place to explore ideas and examine controversial topics from a wide range of perspectives. It encourages critical thinking, creativity, and discipline.

Beyond these benefits, this competitive team enjoys a very positive and supportive culture - that extends well beyond debate practice and tournaments. We're fortunate to have a strong and committed coaching staff and a generous parent community that volunteers time and provides financial support.

Good job, kids. I always enjoy these articles about academic achievements. This may not be as rewarding as a parade for the football team, but I'm sure the kids do appreciate seeing their names in the newspaper.

Just a quick correction regarding contacting issues for the Paly Summer Speech and Debate Camp: The email address in the newspaper is correct, but the phone number is not. To reach me by phone, please call (650)-868-3491.

Nice article. Interesting to note how two local schools have different philosophy- Paly going to high stake competetive events, travels lot more, Gunn does slow debate, only local league events.
