A round-up of Palo Alto government action this week

City Council (March 13)

Economic development: The council heard a presentation from its consultant, Streetsense, about the city's retail environment as part of its effort to develop an economic development strategy. Action: None

2901 Middlefield Road: The council held a pre-screening session on a proposal to rezone a portion of a "planned community" zone to allow construction of a single-family home. Action: None

Board of Education (March 14)

Employment: The board voted in closed session to notify certain non-tenured teachers that their current contracts won't be renewed for next school year. Yes: Unanimous
