WINTER SESSION ... Winter classes at the senior services agency Avenidas begin in the coming weeks. Many, including book clubs, bridge, art, yoga, improv and a current events discussion group, are still open for enrollment. For details, go to avenidas.org and click on "Classes."

LIVE MUSIC ... A string quartet from the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra will present " Music in the Afternoon," Tuesday, Jan. 10, 1 - 2 p.m. in the Schultz Cultural Arts Hall of the Oshman Family Jewish Community Center. The program will feature underrepresented composers from the 1800s and early 1900s, including Fanny Mendelssohn, sister of Felix. $20. FIFTY PLUS ... The "50 to 70 crowd" is invited to attend a daylong conference, " Re-inventing Aging After 50 ," Saturday, Jan. 21, from 9:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. , at 450 Bryant St. Topics will include healthy living after 50, relationships, retirement planning, pickle ball, jazzercise, Feldenkrais and more. $20 in advance; $30 at the door. DRIVE SMART ... The California Highway Patrol will present half-day seminars at Avenidas on topics related to driver safety for seniors , including myths about older drivers, safe driving tips, confidential self-assessments, and compensating for age-related changes. The roles of nutrition, fitness and medication also will be discussed. The seminar takes place on Wednesday, Jan. 25, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and on Thursday, Feb. 9, 1 - 4 p.m. Free, but pre-registration required. FAMILY HISTORY ... Lecturer Peter Altmann will talk about his great aunt, Adele Blochbauer, Gustave Klimt's "woman in gold" — the person, the painting, the artist and the movie, as well as his mother, Maria Altmann's, fight to reclaim the stolen art in an online presentation Wednesday, Jan. 25, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sponsored by the Tzavta Club of the Oshman Family Jewish Community Center and open to the general public. $10. .CHINESE NEW YEAR ... The Avenidas Chinese Community Center will usher in the Year of the Rabbit with a bilingual celebration on Thursday, Jan. 26, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Cubberley Community Center. RAINBOW COLLECTIVE ... The Avenidas Rainbow Collective is offering a host of winter activities for LGBTQ seniors , including walking groups, a photography workshop, a song appreciation group, a women's social group, game nights, movie nights and more.
