There are so many barriers to finding housing these days. We bandy about terms like "affordable housing" but what we really need in PA is LIHTC (tax credit) development. The developer gets tax credits from the US government and by agreement, they don't raise the rent unless the California Tax Commission decides that the area's AMI has risen. Even then, rent increases are very slight. Most TC properties also accept Housing Choice (Section 8) vouchers, so that prospective tenants like Ms Pressley would never have to worry about an excessive rent increase to force her out. There are several TC properties in PA but none of them have available units. If we are going to build 6000 units, they should all be Tax Credit properties. There's plenty of at or above-market rental properties here. We don't need any more of that. Here's a pdf file that explains how the LIHTC program works: Web Link Meanwhile, support Heart and Home program if you can. Happy Holidays!
