Marilyn Brown, 94, a longtime resident of Portola Valley who was known for her involvement with the Foothills Tennis Club, Sierra Club Foundation and the Yosemite Conservancy, died on Oct. 11;
Ronald Vernon Schmidt, 78, a longtime resident of Portola Valley who worked as an electrical engineer, died on Sept. 22;
Jean Allan Willis, 90, a longtime resident of Atherton who was known for her volunteer work with the International Student Center at Stanford and as the president of the Menlo School Mothers Club, died on Sept. 18;
Maria Gilsdorf, 96, a longtime resident of Menlo Park who worked as a health analyst at SRI International, died on Sept. 11; and
Alexander Sexton Freund, 39, a longtime resident of Atherton who co-founded the sports website Bleacher Report, died on Sept. 1.
