City Council

Airplane noise: The council held a study session on airplane noise. Action: None

Sobrato: The council held a study session to discuss the city's proposed deal with The Sobrato Organization for redevelopment of the historic cannery at 340 Portage Ave. and nearby properties. Action: None

Busineess tax: The council voted to support a business tax of $0.11 per square foot with exemptions for businesses with less than 10,000 square feet of space. The council plans to pass a resolution placing it on the ballot on Aug. 8. Yes: Burt, DuBois, Filseth, Kou, Stone No: Cormack, Tanaka

Utilities Advisory Commission

Sea level rise: The commission heard a presentation on city efforts pertaining to sea level rise. Action: None

Fiber: The commission discussed the latest survey results and financial projections pertaining to Palo Alto Fiber. Action: None
