A round-up of Palo Alto government action this week

City Council (May 16)

California Avenue: The council approved keeping California Avenue and a portion of Ramona Street closed to cars until December 2023, banning tents and requiring "edge treatments" in outdoor dining areas. Yes: Burt, Cormack, DuBois, Kou, Stone No: Tanaka Absent: Filseth

Bicycles: The council rejected a proposal to create a two-way dedicated bikeway on California Avenue. Yes: Burt, Stone, Tanaka No: Cormack, DuBois, Kou Absent: Filseth

Council Finance Committee (May 17)

Audit: The committee approved the Macias Ginni & O'Connell audit report for the year ending on June 30, 2021. Yes: Unanimous

Council Rail Committee (May 18)

Update: The committee discussed updates from the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority and Caltrain and considered its work plan for the coming year. It directed staff to return next month with a schedule for discussing various topics pertaining to rail improvements. Yes: Unanimous
