Jeanne D. Hutchins

Jeanne D. Hutchins, 100, a California native and longtime resident of Palo Alto, died on June 10. She was born in 1918. She and her husband, Dale Hutchins, nicknamed "Hutch," raised two children together. When her children were grown, she attended Foothill College and later graduated from San Jose State University with a bachelor's degree in sociology. After graduating, she worked at the California Unemployment Development Office, where she found a community of friends. When her family began to expand, she and her husband started "Camp-Cheese Fat," a green acres home for their pets and grandchildren. She enjoyed playing bridge and volunteering at Filoli and the Children's Health Council. She was preceded in death by her husband and then her longtime partner, Ed. She is survived by her children, Joan Cook Wilson of Berkeley and Glenn Ellwood Cook of St. Helena; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
