Elizabeth Murray: more than fit to print

Cantor Arts Center features rarely seen graphic work of nationally known painter

The medium of printmaking is associated with careful planning, attention to detail and the methodical use of a stone, plate, wood block or silkscreen that has been worked upon by an artist. It is a formulaic technique, designed to produce multiple editions of a work of art, making it less expensive and easier to obtain by the masses. Over the centuries, artists have found ways to break away from the rigid parameters inherent in the printing process.
