With all the nerds in this town, I know I won't be the only one at the park doing this! I found a great link from the Exploratorium on making a pin-hole viewer. Thank-goodness I have a couple days to assemble mine.

Misleading photo, more appropriate for the 2017 event. Certainly a more representative photo of a thin crescent sun could be displayed. Like Fraknoi implies, it will still be blindingly bright, even on the central path through Redding. Use pinhole projection as described, or learn about eyepiece projection from common binoculars. This will be great practice for the upcoming unique opportunity June 5th to see how well Venus eclipses the sun.
