HARVEST FESTIVAL ... Palo Alto Friends Meeting will hold its annual Harvest Festival on Saturday, Sept. 24, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at 957 Colorado Ave., Palo Alto. The free festival includes live music, a rummage sale with books and kids' stuff, homemade honey, handicrafts from El Salvador and more. GAMBLE GARDEN CLASSES ... Linda Roark, who designed Gamble Garden's succulent container gardens, will talk about "Succulents — Propagation, Planting, and Care" on Saturday, Sept. 24, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Bring an overgrown succulent to divide in this hands-on workshop. Pots and soil will be provided. Cost is $25 for nonmembers, $20 for members. On Sunday, Sept. 25, from 5 to 7:30 p.m., Carol Firenze will offer "The Ultimate Olive Oil Experience," where she will talk about the impact of olive oil on commerce, health and the culinary world. The class includes tastings. Cost is $40 for nonmembers, $30 for members. Both classes will be held in the Gamble Garden Carriage House, 1431 Waverley St., Palo Alto. PARENT/CHILD PLANTING WORKSHOP ... Bay-Friendly and California native plant experts from Acterra and the city of Palo Alto's Green Team will guide parents and children in planting a demonstration garden in a "Parent & Child Hands-On Planting Workshop" on Saturday, Sept. 24, from 9 a.m. to noon beginning in the Lucie Stern Community Center Fireside Room, 1305 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto. Focus will be on creating a water-efficient outdoors with butterfly and bird habitats, activity gardens and edible plants. Information (and to register): 650-329-2241

GROWING HERBS ... Darren Huckle, an herbalist, acupuncturist and avid herbal gardener, will teach a class on the "Top Ten Herbs to Grow" on Saturday, Sept. 24, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Common Ground Education Center, 559 College Ave., Palo Alto. PREPPING ROSES ... Cynthia Chuang will talk about "Preparing Roses for the Fall and Winter" at the Garden Club of Los Altos meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 1:30 p.m. The group meets at the Los Altos Lutheran Church, 460 S. ALL ABOUT LAWNS ... UC Master Gardeners will offer a free talk called "All About Lawns: Sustainable Lawn Care & Options for Reducing or Replacing Your Lawn" on Tuesday, Sept. 27, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. The talk, which will cover groundcovers that mimic the look of a lawn to waterwise landscapes, is held at the Los Altos Library, 13 S.
