Eating Out - November 19, 2010

NEW CHEF AT SAKOON ... Sakoon, a swanky Indian restaurant at 357 Castro St. in Mountain View, has wooed a new chef from Manhattan, the restaurant announced last week. Alex Xalxo's past restaurant homes include Earthen Oven and Tamarind in New York; his signature dishes include Gosht Buzkazi, braised lamb shank with spinach in a red-wine sauce.

Meanwhile, Sakoon's previous chef, Sachin Chopra, has moved to the new restaurant All Spice at 1602 S. El Camino Real in San Mateo. The fare is described as "contemporary Indian," with plenty of spices (think basil tapioca rice pudding).
