BOARD OF EDUCATION … The Board of Education plans to discuss proposed academic calendars for the school years 2011-12 and 2012-13, with a final decision expected Nov. 9. The board also will hear a staff presentation on academic achievement. HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION … The commission plans to elect a chair and a vice chair; review the city’s Fair and Impartial Policing policy; hear an update on the city’s process for developing a “priority of needs” for grants to nonprofit groups; and hear an update on Project Safety Net, a community effort to promote youth well-being. The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, in the Council Chambers at City Hall (250 Hamilton Ave.).

PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION … The commission plans to hear a presentation on 2010 Summer Aquatic Program; hear an update on request for proposals to contract out maintenance at the Palo Alto Municipal Golf Course and consider design improvements at El Camino Park relating to the ongoing installation of an emergency-water-storage tank. The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, in the Council Conference Room at City Hall (250 Hamilton Ave.).

PLANNING & TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION … The commission plans to discuss revisions and other changes to the goals, policies and programs in the Housing Element of the City’s Comprehensive Plan. The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, in the Council Chambers at City Hall (250 Hamilton Ave.).

POLICY AND SERVICES COMMITTEE … The committee plans to consider revisions to council protocols; discuss the Healthy Cities Initiative; and discuss the committee’s role. The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, in the Council Conference Room at City Hall (250 Hamilton Ave.).
