Guest Opinion: Alma Plaza represents a larger issue in Palo Alto — strip mall or neighborhood shops?

The current community debate about the future of Alma Plaza would benefit from revisiting discussions on urban design — such as those held during the development of the city's Comprehensive Plan, a strategic plan for directing and managing growth and change, dating back to the 1970s and reaffirmed in the early 1990s.
