Artitst's Statement

For my parents' anniversary, we went to Carmel, CA for the weekend. The night of their anniversary, we went to the Mission Ranch (where they got married) and we had appetizers. We sat outside and across from where we were eating was a big grass field with sheep. I thought it was cool and waited for the sun to go down a little bit and snapped the shot. After I played around with the original a couple times, I got this one, which was my favorite.

Judge's Comment

Montera Espinosa's "Grazing Sheep" is a pleasing pastoral scene defined by the rolling hills and the grazing sheep taking shelter in the shade. It almost feels as if we have been whisked away to New Zealand.
