15th Annual Palo Alto Weekly Photo Contest
"Temple, New Territories" About Deborah Angel
She snapped her winning shot near Tai Po, a market town in Hong Kong. "My nephew invited me to visit him," she said. "I just grabbed a bag and went." The photograph was taken of a small temple situated behind a massive, main temple. Angel was surprised the picture came out so well because she was traveling with a small 3-megapixel digital camera. She first learned to take photographs with a Brownie box camera when she was 10. Although her favorite photography is black and white, she mostly takes color shots and transitioned to digital photography two years ago. For her next project, she plans to go to Japan to photograph teahouses and street scenes. Angel originally hails from a very small Welsh village called Llannon. She moved to Palo Alto 18 years ago and currently works at the main library. |
