Palo Alto Weekly Photo Contest Winners: Picture perfect

171 people took their best shots in hopes of winning a spot in our annual photo contest

Photographer Ansel Adams once said that "You don't take a photograph, you make it."

That's exactly what the 20 winners of this year's Palo Alto Weekly Photo Contest did. Some waited for the perfect moment to capture their image, others with a keen eye were in the right place to snap an amazing moment. From the snowy, romantic streets of New York to the futuristic gotcha-shot snapped at the MOMA, this year's entries are as beautiful as they are thoughtfully composed.

This year's judges include Norbert von der Groeben, the Weekly's chief photographer; Dave Hibbard, a fine art photographer; Joe Quever, a commercial photographer; and Brigitte Carnochan, a fine art and documentary style photographer. Our sponsors include: Photo Express, University Art, Palo Alto Art Center, UCSC Extension. The photos displayed in this issue will be on view from June 1 to June 15 at the Palo Alto Art Center.
