Palo Alto Weekly Photo Contest Winners: In full view
Twenty-two winners of the Weekly's 13th annual Photo Contest
How
do you capture the unsaid connection between a cat and a child,
two lovers or a mother and her son? For the 22 photographers
who won the Weekly's 13th annual Photo Contest, the answer is
through a lens. In a single click of the shutter, these novice
photographers captured a moment in time that speaks volumes.
Their images convey love, excitement, surprise, anticipation, action and irony. For these shutterbugs, photography is a near obsession cultivated in their youths by a parent, a book or simply the beauty of daily life.
This year's winning photographs will be exhibited at the Palo Alto Art Center on 1313 Newell Road from May 25 through June 9. The first-place winners received $250 and a $100 gift certificate for University Art Center. The second-place winners received $150 and a $100 voucher from UCSC Extension Art and Design Department and the third-place winners received $100 and a $100 gift certificate for PhotoTime. Winners in the youth category received $75 from University Art Center and an art class at the Palo Alto Art Center for first place, a $50 gift certificate from University Art Center for second-place winners and a $25 gift certificate for third-place winners.
