Regina Anastasia Davis
May 23, 1928-June 11, 2022
Portola Valley, California

Regina Davis ~ devoted mother, grandma, great-grandma and life-long adventurer lived a full life, which came to close June 11, 2022.

Gina was born and raised in Leicester, England, in the years leading up to WWII. Gina and her identical twin, Margaret, were the youngest pair of the four children of Herbert and Violet Bennett. Gina enjoyed sports, poetry and art, and attended Leicester College of Art and Technology.

In 1952, Gina met Peter Davis at a fencing club, and they married in 1954. Gina and Peter had two daughters (Diane and Sorrel) before immigrating to California, and their son (Stuart) was born shortly thereafter. After brief stints in San Jose and Los Angeles, Gina and her family settled in the San Francisco Bay Area, first in Mill Valley and later in Los Altos Hills.

Gina travelled world-wide throughout North and Central America, United Kingdom, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Africa and China. In addition to sight-seeing, adventures included horseback safaris, backpacking, hut-to-hut hiking, sailing the Greek Islands, and more. In 1983 Gina started “Walks with Regina” providing small group walking holidays in England, focusing on her favourite areas in the Lake District and Cotswolds.

Gina’s great passion was horseback riding and although she had several trusty steeds over the years, her great love was Kanafa. Raised from a yearling, Gina and Kanafa explored the Sierras, beaches, trails and parks throughout California. Gina was an active member of Los Altos, Los Viejeros and San Mateo Horsemen’s Clubs.

In her quieter years, Gina volunteered teaching ESL, driving seniors, at the community library, and with other service organizations. To the end, Gina remained a fearsome Rummikub player and could challenge all comers.

Regina is survived by her sister Margaret; her children Diane, Sorrel and Stuart (& Becky); her grandchildren Amy (& Billy), Ryan (& Holly), Jessa, Chloe and Rebecca; and her great-grandchildren Raelyn, Lily, Bentley, Milo, Ava and Selah.

Without doubt Regina will be remembered by many for her great energy and sense of adventure, and her passion for flowers and horses. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
