Priscilla Azcueta
Aug. 22, 1954-Aug. 20, 2023
San Mateo, California

Priscilla C. Azcueta, 68, of San Mateo, California, passed away on August 20, 2023, after a three-year battle with Multiple Myeloma Cancer.

Priscilla was born on August 22, 1954, to Peter and Virginia Azcueta in San Jose, California and raised in Mountain View, California. After Priscilla graduated from Mountain View High School in 1972, she went on to study Social Work, Sociology and Psychology at Whittier College.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology, she started her first job at Manpower, Inc/California Peninsula where she worked for over 30 years. Priscilla held many high-level positions as Regional Director, Director/Vice President of Professional Services, and VP of Business Solutions. Priscilla later went on to work as the Managing Director and Recruitment Manager for Expandability Staffing. Her over 40-year career in the employment field led her to work as a Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist at the Veterans Affairs (VA) Palo Alto Healthcare System for the last 7 years. Priscilla felt the VA was where she was meant to be, helping veterans with interviewing preparedness and finding gainful employment. She had the determination and drive to continue to help the veterans even through cancer treatments and periodic stays in the hospital.

In 2002 Priscilla adopted Stomper, a beautiful Bichon who she treated like a son. She later went on to have three more Bichons: Rowdy, Sandy, and Barnie, who weren’t just her fur-babies, but members of the family. She is survived by Rowdy.

Priscilla had unmatched energy and kept a full calendar of spending time with friends and family. Once her friend always a friend. She loved watching and attending the San Francisco Giants, San Francisco 49ers, and Golden State Warriors games. Priscilla had a desire to see the world where she traveled to many sunny beaches in Mexico, Hawaii, and Jamaica. Globetrotting through different countries, she toured Venice, cruised to Croatia and Turkey, went on a safari, and explored Africa, and traveled to the Philippines where she learned about her heritage and ancestry. She traveled all throughout the U.S., from California to the East Coast and even cruised north to Alaska.

Priscilla was predeceased by her parents Peter and Virginia Azcueta, and her brother David Azcueta. She is survived by her brother Daniel Azcueta, sister Tisha Bertlow, nephew and Godson David Anthony Azcueta, her nieces Miranda Azcueta, Cassandra Azcueta, and Megan Bertlow, and nephews Jacob and Joshua Bertlow. She is survived by her great niece Carissa Azcueta, great nephews Elijah Castaneda, Edmund Townsend, Dominic Townsend, and Zane Bertlow.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the coming months. Check Priscilla’s Facebook page in October for the announcement and date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, a charity the family feels strongly about.
