Patricia Lauraine Kallenbach passed away peacefully on June 26, 2018 in Portland, Oregon at the age of 90. Born September 12, 1926 to Emma (née Klenk) and Patrick Adams, Patricia grew up in Eldon, Missouri, where she participated in journalism, drama, choir and marching band. Upon graduating from high school, Patricia enrolled in the University of Missouri's School of Journalism. She corresponded with her future husband, Warren Kallenbach, while he was in the U.S. Navy during World War II. She and Warren were married in Eldon on April 6, 1947. They then attended Drury College where Patricia was graduated with a major in Speech and Drama. Having both been encouraged by the Drury College Dean to enroll at Stanford University, Patricia and Warren soon relocated to Palo Alto where they attended Stanford and Patricia worked toward a master's degree in Speech and Drama. After daughters Ann Thalia, Sallee and Sue were born, Patricia continued her teaching career in the Palo Alto Unified School District. She also directed children's plays and musicals, some of them at the Palo Alto Children's Theater, often creating much of the scenery, costumes and props herself. After 51 years in Palo Alto, Patricia and Warren moved to Portland, Oregon in 2002 to be closer to their daughter, Sue, her husband, Takashi and their beloved grandson, Adam Shinomiya. A gathering in celebration of her life was held at their home on June 28, 2018 with immediate family and close friends who remembered her kindness, sense of humor, wisdom, works of art, theatrical achievements and her love of her pets. Patricia is lovingly remembered by her husband of 71 years, Dr. W. Warren Kallenbach, her three daughters (Ann) Thalia Adams Waingarten, Sallee Kallenbach and Sue Shinomiya, her sons-in-law Larry Waingarten and Takashi Shinomiya, and her grandson Adam Shinomiya.
