Joachim Luis Alexandre, also known as "King" by his neighborhood community, died at home in December at the age of 62. He was born March 21, 1956, in Palo Alto, the son of Jose and Maria Alexandre. King was the dear brother of Joe Alexandre (deceased), John Alexandre, and Maria Rapert and was an uncle to three nephews. His working life was in the building trades. King was a beloved fixture in the Monroe Park neighborhood. He knew everyone because he made his front yard a place where everyone that passed by could stop and visit with him. He introduced neighbors to each other: connecting the neighborhood. He gave gardening tips, repair advice and tools and chatted about anything. He watched over the neighborhood and took care of pets and gardens when needed, babysat neighborhood children, as well as helping many elderly neighbors aging at home in the same way he had cared for his parents. He made Monroe Park a neighborhood where people enjoyed going for a walk and children could not wait to see if King was out in his front yard. As one neighbor commented, "He made me feel like the neighborhood was an extension of my home." It did not matter who you were: he touched the hearts of everyone he met and was a symbol of kindness for all. He will be missed. May he Rest In Peace.
