Eico Kay Ohara

Eico Kay Ohara passed away peacefully at the age of 93 surrounded by family. She is survived by her two sons, Gary and Steve, grandchildren, Sean, Patrick, Megan and Morgan. She was a great grandmother to Gavin, Andrew and Noelle, a Great Auntie to Yoko Sato, and Auntie to Richard Yoneji and David Higaki. Very near and dear to Kay were her furry grand dogs - Maddie and Mali.

Kay was born in Santa Maria, California, she was the oldest child of three, her brother Sam and her younger sister Jenny. At the time of World War II she and her family moved from Santa Maria to Salt Lake City, Utah. After the war ended, her family relocated to the Bay Area.

Kay worked over 20 years for Peninsula Medical Laboratory as the Asst. Corporate Secretary and oversaw daily operations.

Kay has lived in Santa Maria, Salt Lake City, Portola Valley, Pebble Beach, Menlo Park and her retirement years in Mountain View. Kay was very active, spending her retirement line dancing several days a week. She loved her daily walks with her beloved Maddie on the Stevens Creek Trail. She was an avid sports fan; watching Sunday football and Warriors basketball. Kay was active in her granddaughters' life, spending time with them each and every day. She was well known throughout the neighborhood and was a social butterfly, befriending neighbors, dogs, and crossing guards. She will be deeply missed.
