Skyler Thomas scored all 11 of his points in the first 11 minutes, J.D. Carson scored 10 of his 16 points in the first half and Menlo-Atherton ran away from visiting Jefferson 74-29 in a non-league boys basketball game on Monday.

The Grizzlies (2-3) were unable to handle M-A’s pressure defense and turned the ball over on numerous occasions, allowing the Bears (2-0) easy baskets en route to the victory, which prompted a running clock in the fourth quarter.

Spencer Lin added 10 points for M-A, which opens the DJ Frandsen Memorial at Bellarmine on Friday night. Palo Alto and the host Bells play at 6 p.m.

Zach Zafran scored 13 points to help host Priory down Design Tech 53-27 in another non-league game Monday. The Panthers (5-1) host ACE Charter at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Boys soccer

While Sacred Heart Prep was busy filling up the net with goals, the goalkeepers from Palo Alto and Menlo-Atherton were having none of that in non-league games played Monday.

Carlos Deras scored once in each half and eight others scored goals as the Gators struck often in a 10-0 decision over visiting Riordan.

Senior Liam Johnson contributed a goal and three assists, Alexi Stravropoulos had three assists and Kyle Nilsson, Ethan Veghte and Zach Freire each had a goal and assist and Matthew Kirkham, Kevin Box, Alex Moretti and Thomas Sullivan each scored once.

Sacred Heart Prep (2-0-1) travels to play Palo Alto (1-1-1) in a non-league contest at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Paly’s Drucker Jackson and M-A’s William Fahey both made sure neither team could squeeze a goal past them in a scoreless draw.

Menlo-Atherton (0-1-1) meets Prospect (0-1-1) at 5:30 p.m. Thursday as part of the Homestead Tournament.

In another game, Priory dropped a 2-1 decision to visiting Summit Prep (4-0) on Monday. The Panthers (1-1) host ACE Charter at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Girls wrestling

Menlo-Atherton’s Kiely Tabaldo at 101 and Anna Smith at 121 each won a championship at the Lady Royals Tournament over the weekend at Overfelt High in San Jose, helping the Bears finish fourth with 124 points. James Logan won the meet with 159 1/2 points.

Palo Alto’s Alexandra Lee placed fourth at 131 and teammate Amelia Clough (235) each placed fourth while M-A’s Hannan Hendrickson (160), Isabella Gpidendio (170) also placed fourth.

M-A’s Ana Chung won her fifth-place match with a pin at 106 and Alex Lujan (150) pinned her opponent at 150 to place fifth. Paly’s Ella Jauregui (121) and Aviv Kobza (170) each finished sixth.

Boys wrestling

Palo Alto’s Dara Heydarpour at 147 and Adar Schwarzbach at 154, each placed third at the Chukchanski Invitational over the weekend in Madera.
