A preview of Palo Alto government meetings for the week of Aug. 26.

CITY COUNCIL … The council is not meeting this week.

BOARD OF EDUCATION … The board will hear a report on the district’s lease agreement with the city for Cubberley Community Center; vote on staffing infrastructure for safety, security and emergency preparedness; a redesign of the district’s family engagement program; and discuss conceptual designs and contracts for facilities projects at JLS, Greene and Fletcher middle schools and Walter Hays, Palo Verde and Escondido elementary schools, among other agenda items. PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION … The commission will hear presentations on a park visitation study, plan to restore a new 7.7-acre site at Foothills Park and an update on parks and open space regulations. PLANNING AND TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION … The commission plans to discuss the city’s transportation work plan, consider a parcel map for 874 Boyce Ave., and review a proposal for a Residential Preferential Parking program in a section of Old Palo Alto.
