Stanford University’s Department of Public Safety is investigating an indecent exposure incident involving a man caught masturbating inside an elevator of a campus apartment building on Wednesday morning, campus police said.
A female walked in on the man around 8:40 a.m. at Quillen Highrise apartments, located at 737 Campus Drive within Escondido Village, according to a campus community alert. They briefly exchanged words before the man left the elevator and went down a stairway out of the building, but the female didn’t see him exit.
There was no physical contact between the female and man, the alert said. She described him as Asian, around 25 to 30 years old, between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing roughly 160 pounds. He had short black hair, wore a dark-colored jacket and pants and possibly had a backpack.
The alert calls on anyone who has been sexually assaulted to report the incident to campus authorities, as university officials said such behavior isn’t tolerated. Anyone who has been sexually assaulted or knows someone who has can find resources at sexualviolencesupport.stanford.edu.
Anyone with information regarding Wednesday’s indecent exposure is asked to call the Department of Public Safety at 650-329-2413.
Hmm, the people in this story are a “female” and a “man.” Very odd choice. One word sounds clinical and arm’s-length, while the other sounds like a person. Why not use parallel terminology for both people?

Disgusting. Horrible way to start the day. Avoid elevators, better yet, ban elevators. Hold workshops to train women to shame inappropriate behavior. Wear a body camera.

While a public elevator is a highly inappropriate place to be doing what he was doing, at least the guy was taking responsibility for his own ‘needs’ rather than hurting someone else in the process.
