The Menlo College women’s basketball team concluded play in the Hoop N Surf Classic with a thrilling, 69-66, overtime victory over Doane University on Tuesday in Honolulu.

The Oaks beat NAIA Division II ranked College of the Ozarks, Monday and continued their efforts with their second overtime win of the year.

Alexis Delovio hit a basket at the buzzer to send the game into overtime.

Menlo made five of six free throwsin overtime to spark the victory.

Menlo (8-4) jumped to an early lead on a pair of Emma Briggs free throws in the first 30 seconds and then fell behind for most of the first quarter.

Menlo again took an early lead in the second quarter as Ashlyn Monk hit a 3-pointer to make it 20-18. The Oaks mounted an 8-3 run to finish the half with a six point lead, 32-26.

Things looked good in the third quarter as Menlo led the entire way and stretched its lead to a game-best nine points.

In the fourth, Doane (9-8) rallied for a two-point edge heading into the final 20 seconds of regulation.

Delovio’s shot was originally ruled a 3-pointer. After a review, it was called a two pointer.

Celina Pagan scored a team-leading 19 points to go along with seven rebounds. Pagan knocked down three of Menlo’s four three pointers in the game.

Emma Briggs was close behind with 10 points and three rebounds along with two steals. Aliyah Brantley added 10 points and a team-leading eight rebounds.

The Oaks host Olivet Nazarene a week from Thursday a week from Thursday.
