LANDSCAPE PLANNING FOR BEGINNERS … The City of Palo Alto in conjunction with the Bay Area Water Supply and Conservation Agency (BAWSCA) will offer a landscape design class for residents planning to replace their lawns with more water-efficient landscapes. The class will be held Saturday, Sept 24, from 9:30 a.m. to noon, inside the Community Room at the Lucie Stern Community Center, 1305 Middlefield Road. The class is a step-by-step overview of basic landscape design principles. Learn about optimal plant arrangements, design concepts, and have your questions answered by a professional landscape contractor. By the end of the class you can expect to leave with ideas for your landscape conversion. FIVE-DOLLAR CLASS … Learn how to make a honeybee-friendly garden with Common Ground Garden’s class Saturday, Sept. 24, from 2-4 p.m. The class is only $5 because the City of Palo Alto’s Public Works-Watershed Protection and the Our Water, Our World program underwrites it. Learn tips and techniques that will help you transform your garden into a safe oasis for honeybees, native bees, birds and other pollinators.
