Maya Miklos of Gunn and Kent Slaney of Palo Alto each won three individual events to pace their respective track and field teams to solid victories in SCVAL De Anza Division dual-meet action Tuesday at Gunn.

Miklos, a senior, won the 100-meter hurdles in 15.36 and the 300 hurdles in 45.09. She also won the 100 in 12.59 and, for good measure, anchored the Titans’ 400 relay to victory in a season-best 49.28.

The efforts by Miklos and her teammates kept Gunn undefeated in league action following a 91-36 triumph.

Slaney went the longer route for the Paly boys as he won the 800 in 2:02.55, took the 1,600 in 4:27.32 and cruised to victory in the 3,200 in 10:16.61. The once-beaten Vikings easily defeated rival Gunn, 83-44.

The Paly boys, who suffered their first dual-meet loss last week to Los Gatos, bounced back nicely in the annual rivalry meet with Gunn.

Austin Cox took the 100 (11.24) and long jump (19-10) in addition to taking second in the 200 to teammate Eli Givens (22.48). Givens moved up to the 400 for the first time this season and won that in 51.26, just holding off teammate Dami Bolarinwa’s 51.36. Bolarinwa and Cox also ran on the first-place 1,600 relay.

Gunn’s lone double-winner was Robert Rasmussen, who took the 110 high hurdles in 15.92 and 300 intermediate hurdles in 43.39. Andy Maltz had a solid throw of 47-4 to win the shot put and Jeffrey Lee-Heidenreich leaped 41-6 1/2 to take the triple jump.

For the girls, Gunn improved to 5-0 with only a final meet against visiting Homestead (April 28) before the league finals on May 5 at Los Gatos High.

Gunn senior Gillian Meeks had herself an interesting meet as she won the 800 in 2:22.53 and 1,600 in 5:09.83. She passed on the 3,200 and instead ran the 200 for the first time, finishing fourth. The Titans swept the top five places in the race. Meeks also ran a leg on Gunn’s 1,600 relay.

Amy Watt won the long jump with a good leap of 17-4 and ran the third leg of Gunn’s winning 400 relay. Teammate Margaret Redfield took the triple jump (32-10) and high jump (5-2) while Gunn’s Jerri Zhang was a double-winner in the shot put and discus.

Palo Alto’s lone victories came in the 400 by Titi Bolarinwa and in the 1,600 relay (4:25.76).

Members of both teams will be busy this weekend, some at the CCS Top 8 Track and Field Classic on Friday at Los Gatos High (3 p.m. field, 4:30 p.m. running) and others at the St. Francis Invitational on Saturday morning.
