Stanford gymnast Dennis Zaremski and Cardinal wrestler Connor Schram each received weekly honors for their successful efforts last while helping their respective teams to victory.

Zaremski was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Week. He claimed three individual titles during two meets on opening week, two on rings and one on parallel bars. Zaremski put up a season-best on rings (15.850) and parallel bars (15.050) in the second meet on January 16 against No. 7 Cal and No. 20 SC United to lead Stanford to its third win of the season.

The award is the first career honor for Zaremski, who will look to help No. 2 Stanford continue its momentum this Sunday as the Cardinal travels to face No. 4 Ohio State and No. 5 Cal at noon in Berkeley.

Schram, a redshirt sophomore, was tabbed as the Pac-12 Wrestler of the Week. The 125-pounder helped lead Stanford to dual wins over Utah Valley (37-5) and Duke (27-15) last week, improving the team’s record to 7-2 on the season.

A native of Cannonsburg, Pa., Schram knocked-off 18th-ranked Chasen Tolbert of Utah Valley with a 3-1 sudden-victory decision. Tied 1-1 heading into overtime, Schram, who was ranked 20th in the country, scored a double-leg takedown in just seven seconds for his 12th win of the year and his first over a ranked opponent.

Against Duke, Schram wrestled up at 133 pounds, defeating Brandon Leynaud with a 10-3 decision. He is now 13-3 overall and 3-1 in duals.

Schram becomes the first Cardinal wrestler to earn the Pac-12 Wrestler of the Week honor, which began in 2016.

Stanford hits the road this week, traveling to Tempe, Ariz., for duals against West Virginia and Arizona State on Saturday. Both duals will be televised live on Pac-12 Bay Area beginning at noon.
