More rain, courtesy of the El Nino weather pattern, is expected to hit the Bay Area this week, according to the National Weather Service.
The next series of storms is anticipated to start rolling in late Tuesday night, with the heaviest rainfall expected between 4 a.m. and 8 a.m. Wednesday, according to meteorologist Will Pi.
“There’s definitely another series of storms coming, but they certainly won’t be as strong as the storms we saw a week ago,” Pi said.
Lingering showers Wednesday are expected to briefly dissolve, with moderately heavy rain returning Friday and Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

Nearly all the storms that have come into the west coast are normal winter pattern storms not El Niño fed storms.
why is rainfall considered to be el nino? seems like normal rainfall to us. the only difference is we haven’t had normal rainfall for awhile.
… and we haven’t had an El Nino for awhile. So it stands to reason that people will try to put two and two together.
“The” El Nino flood of Feb. 2-3, 1998 was preceded by several days of rain, pouring rain. On the evening before the early morning flood crisis, Channing Avenue and other streets were already “street flooding” because the water mains could not handle the deluge. Then during that early morning there was a very high King Tide. The water had no place to go – just backed up through the creeks. and storm drains overflowed, In the meantime, the water from creeks like the infamous Corte Madera Creek in the mini-mountains and foothills west of us, rushed downhill with no where to go due to that very high tide in the Bay. A combination of many water issues. Frankly I had no idea what was going on until our son-in-law called when he saw the pictures on TV taken from traffic airplanes flying overhead and that routed us out of bed. There was water all around our house. But a heavy rain is no reason to panic. In ’98 it had been raining -pouring all day. The same scenario Dec. 23, 1955. But pay attention to the numbers from Foothill Park But one heavy rain storm should not cause you to panic unless your street starts to flood perhaps from storm drain problems.
