Palo Alto police are looking for a man who allegedly exposed himself to a woman in her 70s out for a walk near downtown Wednesday morning.

At about 10:30 a.m., police received a call from a woman at the intersection of Hamilton Avenue and Hale Street reporting that a man in a car had just exposed himself to her. She said that the vehicle had since left. Officers responded immediately but did not locate the car nor the suspect, police said.

About 10 minutes earlier, the woman had been walking on the north side of the 900 block of Hamilton Avenue when a man sitting in a silver sedan parked along the curb motioned for her to approach the car, police said. When she got closer, she saw that the man’s pants were below his knees and he was masturbating, according to police. When she backed away from the car, the man fled the area, driving west on Hamilton Avenue. The two did not speak to one another.

Police said the woman described the man as an unshaven Hispanic male in his twenties or thirties. The car had a California license plate ending in “690.” Police will not be producing a sketch of the suspect.

No other similar incidents have occurred in this area recently. Detectives do not believe this incident is related to a series of indecent exposures that occurred in October.
