A Stanford Hospital operating-room technician was arrested on April 2 for sexual battery after he allegedly inappropriately touched patients under anesthesia, Redwood City police said.

Redwood City detectives arrested Robert Lastinger, 55, a former employee of Stanford Hospital’s Outpatient Surgery Center, which is located at 450 Broadway St.

Stanford employees reported seeing Lastinger allegedly inappropriately touch anesthetized male patients during their recovery period. On April 2, 2015, the hospital administration notified police and placed Lastinger on administrative leave, police stated.

In the ensuing investigation, police identified four people who were allegedly sexually battered by Lastinger while they were sedated. The incidents occurred between March 15 and April 2, police said.

Lastinger, of Fremont, was booked into the San Mateo County jail on four counts of sexual battery. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding Lastinger or these incidents is encouraged to contact Detective Dave Cirina at 650-780-7607 or Detective Glenn Albin at 650-780-7141.
