Stanford grad Christen Press scored a goal and her former Cardinal teammate Kelley O’Hara subbed in to play the final 22 minutes of Team USA’s 2-0 victory over France in the championship match of the Algarve Cup in Faro, Portugal on Wednesday.

Press scored her 20th international goal, the 26th player to record at least 20 goals, after Amy Rodriguez deflected Hope Solo’s goal kick to the center circle. Press picked it, wove through three defenders and fired in into the far post.

Team USA, 15-1-2 all-time against France, hosts New Zealand on April 4 at Busch Stadium in St. Louis.

The Americans scored on the only two shots they took during the match. France had all seven of its shots rejected by Solo, who earned her 81st career shutout.

O’Hara played in the midfield as the first sub in, for Rodriguez.
