After seeking the public’s help in identifying a man killed Friday evening on the train tracks between Mountain View and Sunnyvale, the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office said on Monday it has ascertained the victim’s name and now must notify next of kin before releasing it.

Emergency crews responded to the collision with Train 381, an express “Baby Bullet” train carrying 59 passengers, around 6 p.m., Caltrain officials said.

Medical Examiner Patra Albrecht said the man was not carrying identification. She said he had a black backpack but nothing inside the backpack that could help medical examiners identify him.

The man is the 10th person to be killed on the tracks this year, according to a Caltrain spokesperson.
