Andrew Luck had another impressive performance to lead the Indianapolis Colts to their third straight win, 20-13 over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday to highlight Week 5 of the NFL.
Luck completed 32 of 49 passes for 312 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions and ran six times for 12 yards and a touchdown.
Luck shined not only with his arm, but also on the ground, as Stanford’s all-time leader in rushing yards by a quarterback provided the deciding score on a 13-yard scamper with 8:56 remaining in the fourth quarter.
The Colts, who also benefited from a 30-yard catch by Coby Fleener and four special teams returns by Griff Whalen, sit atop of the AFC South along with Houston. Fleener’s catch came on Indianapolis’ fourth-quarter drive that set up Luck’s touchdown run.
Luck, Fleener and Whalen were among the 15 former Stanford players to see time on NFL fields this past week. They will lead the Colts (3-2) against host Houston (3-2) on Thursday night in a showdown between the AFC South leaders.
Meanwhile, three more Stanford products saw action on Monday night in Seattle’s 27-17 win over Washington.
Wide receiver Doug Baldwin had four receptions for 50 yards and one kickoff return for 17 yards in Seattle’s win at Washington while Richard Sherman started at left cornerback for the Seahawks. Trent Murphy had one tackle from his linebacker position for Washington.
Elsewhere in Week 5:
Jim Dray reached the end zone, his first touchdown of the 2014 season. One of five former Cardinal players listed as tight ends on NFL rosters, Dray caught a one-yard pass just before halftime to start Cleveland’s comeback in an eventual 29-28 win.
Dray had three receptions for 25 yards and one touchdown. The Browns trailed by as many as 25 points before completing the largest road comeback in NFL history. Defensive back Johnson Bademosi had one tackle on special teams for Cleveland.
David DeCastro started at right guard in Pittsburgh’s 17-9 win at Jacksonville, which got four carries for nine yards and one reception for 20 yards from Toby Gerhart.
Zach Ertz had three receptions for 39 yards in Philadelphia’s 34-28 win over St. Louis.
Ryan Hewitt started at H-back in Cincinnati’s 43-17 loss at New England.
Jonathan Martin started at left offensive tackle in San Francisco’s 22-17 win over visiting Kansas City.
Stepfan Taylor had one carry for six yards in Arizona’s 41-20 loss at Denver.
Levine Toilolo started at tight end and recovered a fumble in Atlanta’s 30-20 loss to the New York Giants.
