The Menlo-Atherton girls continued their fine season in cross country by winning the varsity division of the Del Oro Invitational on Saturday night in Loomis.
The Bears place all five of their scorers among the top 14 and scored 33 points to defeat Woodcreek (50) and El Dorado (88).
Menlo-Atherton sophomore Madeleine Baier also kept her string of top finishes intact by winning the 4K race in 15:20. M-A senior Taylor Fortnam was fifth in 15:44 while the Bears’ Katie Beebe (15:47) and Annika Roise (15:49) were right behind in sixth and seventh, respectively.
Maddie Worden wrapped up the scoring by taking 14th in 16:07.
In the boys’ race, Menlo-Atherton finished 10th with Bellarmine winning the title. Adam Scandlyn ran 33rd in 13:40 to pace the Bears.
In the Large School Varsity Girls race at the annual Artichoke Invitational at Half Moon Bay, Palo Alto sophomore Bryan Carlson covered the 2.33-mile courst in 15:04 while finishing fourth. The Vikings finished sixth with 167 points while Monta Vista won the team crown with 41 points.
In the Large School Varsity Boys race, Palo Alto freshman Kent Slaney was 10th in 12:47 while helping the Vikings finish 10th in the team scoring.

Menlo School came out strong, establishing a 10-2 halftime lead, on the way to a 15-6 nonleague victory on Saturday. The Knights (13-2) were led in scoring by center Nick Bisconti with six with Johnny Wilson adding four. Weston Avery and Chris Xi both added three assists.
The tempo was controlled by Menlo’s swarm-style defense early in the game, shutting out Los Altos in the first quarter. Avery led the team defensively with four steals while goalies John Wilson (first half) and Spencer Witte (second half) combined for 15 saves.
Menlo now looks ahead to hosting league rival Menlo Atherton (9-4) on Wednesday at 4 p.m. in their second of two PAL Bay Division contests. The Knights won the first match, 10-8.
