    Seems like just not telling us or lying to us, and then finally when something comes out trying to make us think we need this because of terrorism.

    The totalitarian state with as much technology can make huge use of this data, and we can see what at least part of our government have done with their power since as early as 1898 with the CoIntelPro program, accidentally discovered and leaked again. I don’t like to be an alarmist conspiracy theorist, but the factual information is out there on this.

    We have no civil liberties if we are not wealthy, and even if we are they can be taken away the moment one agitates for change.
